Hey Reader, Happy Labor Day! September is my favorite month… September always feels like a fresh start. Back to routine made more sense when my kids where little because it meant that I went from a summer of the kids home all the time, waking up at different times, looking for different ways to entertain them, eating differently and at more random times to a nice structure that I have always craved. This year I only have one kid starting back to school and yes it is his senior year. Even though I have kids in college, they do their own thing. Even with him still in highschool September is different for me this year. For one I am on a solo vacation visiting my brother in California and on to Hawaii to visit my best friend. So you guessed it… He is starting his first day without me. I will absolutely be checking to see that he goes to bed on time. I think that is the only thing that could throw off his first day. I hope. So on to September, the fresh start month. I have consistently gained a little weight in the summer for long time. I also don’t do a lot of structured workouts. I will walk a lot and do a lot unintentional activities but I truly hate summer workouts, especially this exceptionally hot summer. So I am starting off this September differently. I’m not home, so my eating sleeping, morning routine, everything is a bit off. Ok a lot off. And with Dominic being a senior and me working for myself, their really isn’t a lot of routine given to me simply by entering September. So what does that mean… It’s simple! I’m not going to worry about everyone else's schedule and I’m not going to waste September not getting a fresh start. I mean come, on before we know it, it’ll be November and then we dive right into full on holiday mode. Plus September feels different. It’s not as hot. Morning walks feel better, workouts feel better. Fall produce is already happening. It’s fantastic! It’s harvest season, Yay! And even if you are like me and don’t have a set routine you have to follow, most of the world around is getting abc to routine. So let’s dive into September.. Hey Reader, So most of you know I prioritize sleep. BUT that doesn’t mean I always sleep well. Sometimes I can do everything right and still have a crappy night sleep. Especially if my brain has so much it wants to babble about. So here’s what happened… I stayed the night at my moms and she wanted to take my daughter out for ice cream after dinner. I’ve been staying away from any sweets the last week or so. Not a full on sugar detox, or even a full no added sugars detox, which is usually what...
Hey Reader, You know what’s harder than working out? Staying consistent with it. Life gets busy. Work, family, and responsibilities pile up. And before you know it, your health goals take a backseat—again. That’s exactly why online personal training is changing the game. The fall has always been a time that I get really on track with my workouts and eating habits. I crave routine and September usually gives me that. Even so sometimes the beginning is really tough for me. I can’t always count...
Hey Reader, You’re not lazy. You’re not unmotivated. You just don’t have time… right? Time is the number one reason most women and men too, who want to get fit, get strong, or get healthy haven’t started. And I get it. You’re working, caregiving, commuting, cleaning, planning, doing LITERALLY everything for everyone else. But here's the thing most people won’t say out loud: If you don't make time for your health now, you're going to be forced to make time for illness later. Tough love, but...
