Silly backpacks, laundry, and an early bedtime.


Sounds about right.


Today is the last first day of school I will every have with my kids, and I’m on vacation. So I needed to call and check that Dominic was ready.

The answer…no.

The seniors are all wearing a child's backpack on the first day of school. Which I thought we took care of because we talked about it like two weeks ago. But Dominic doesn't have the child's backpack yet. Then he tells me he still needed to do laundry. Our apartment uses quarters which I left a roll for him but I guess someone else used them so now he needs to go to the bank and get another roll.

But there's hope. As long as he gets to bed on time nothing can mess up the first day of school.😅

Pick out your clothes before you go to bed.


Yep I know…laying out your clothes might seem like a small thing, but it’s actually a powerful habit trigger.

Before you decide this is something obvious and insignificant, let's dive in a bit more and really make it work for you.


🧠 Why it works:
Our brains are wired to avoid friction.

So when you wake up and your gym clothes are already laid out, there’s one less barrier between you and your workout.

One less barrier when your struggling to get your workout in is HUGE.


But this also applies to your work outfit, your kid’s school bag, or packing lunch.

The fewer decisions you have to make in the morning, the smoother the day flows.

💥 Small change, big impact:

  • Lay out your workout clothes = more likely to move
  • Set out your work outfit = no wasted time on outfit stress
  • Prep a water bottle or breakfast = easier to stay on track
  • Review your to-do list = mentally clear when you wake up

It’s not about being perfect.
It’s about creating an environment that helps you win without relying on motivation.

🎯 Bonus tip:
Laying out your workout clothes at night also acts as a cue. When you see them in the morning, your brain connects it with the habit—I’m a person who moves my body.

And those workout clothes could go in your bag for work and still act as a trigger to workout after work or on a lunch break.
