💰 Think healthy eating is too expensive? Think again!

Hey Reader,

Let’s talk about a common myth that keeps so many people from eating healthier…

👉 “Healthy food is too expensive.”

I get it—walk into a fancy health food store, and it can feel like eating well is only for people with unlimited grocery budgets.

But here’s the truth: some of the healthiest foods are actually the most affordable—and they’re available at any grocery store (not just the gourmet ones).

Budget-Friendly Healthy Staples

Next time you’re grocery shopping, focus on these nutrient-packed, low-cost foods:

Beans & Lentils – Loaded with protein & fiber, plus way cheaper than meat. Buy them dry or canned for easy meals.
Oats & Brown Rice – Super filling, easy to cook, and perfect for meal prep.
Frozen Vegetables & Fruits – Just as nutritious as fresh (sometimes even more), and often way cheaper!
In-Season Produce – Buying fresh fruits & veggies in season = better prices & better flavor.

Pro Tip: You can freeze your own in-season fruits and vegetables to use later.

Eggs – I know the cost of eggs has gone up greatly but it is still one of the most cost-effective sources of protein compared to meats and fish.

Pro Tip: Try 2 egg whites for every whole egg. You still get all the protein and healthy nutrients of the egg yolk without the added cholesterol.

Canned Tuna or Salmon – Budget-friendly, packed with protein & healthy fats. You can find the healthiest and most sustainable sources of seafood here: https://www.seafoodwatch.org/
Potatoes & Sweet Potatoes – Super filling, loaded with nutrients, and so versatile.

Save Even More with These Simple Hacks

💡 Buy in bulk. Staples like rice, oats, and dried beans are way cheaper when you buy in larger quantities.
💡 Shop local & seasonal. Farmers’ markets often have fresher produce at better prices than supermarkets. But, not always so pay attention to prices.
💡 Plan your meals. A little planning = fewer impulse buys & less food waste (which = big savings!).
💡 Skip the fancy labels. You don’t need organic everything—eating more whole, plant-based foods is the goal! Always refer to the dirty dozen to know what produce really needs to be organic.

What’s REALLY Expensive?

While processed junk food might seem cheap upfront, it costs more in the long run.

❌ Low-energy, sluggishness, and cravings that keep you buying more junk.
❌ Expensive doctor visits, medications, and long-term health problems.
❌ The cycle of feeling stuck, frustrated, and paying for quick fixes that don’t work.

Making small changes now can save you a ton—not just in grocery bills, but in how you feel every day.

Hi! I'm Nicole

Over the years I have thrown alot of info into my emails. I considered taking some of my old emails and making them into blog posts and then realized I can make a newsletter feed for you to go back to or refer others to. So here it is. Of course I won't include all emails here. But, as I write, when something seems to be a very useful email with info I beleive you will want to refer back to it will go to this feed. Enjoy! 😘

Hello Reader, Have you ever skipped a night out or a family gathering because you were worried it would throw off your progress? You’re not alone. Today’s topic is extra special to me because it’s my mom’s birthday and two days ago was my husbands birthday, plus my anniversary was last week and then Easter this. Hey Reader! Have you ever thought, “I just need more willpower to eat healthy”? Here’s the thing: willpower isn’t the problem. The real issue? Relying on motivation instead of creating a system that makes healthy choices EASY. Because let’s be honest—some days, you just won’t feel like meal prepping, cooking, or saying no to takeout. And that’s okay! But if you have a system in place, you won’t have to rely on willpower alone. Here’s how to set yourself up for success: 🔹 Keep healthy options...
