[Saturday Spark✨] Prioritize Protein & Veggies First—Then Enjoy the Rest


Hey Reader,

Here’s one of my favorite mindset shifts for summer eating:

Protein + veggies first → then enjoy the extras in moderation.

Not because you need to “earn” anything. But because your body thrives when it’s well-fed first.

Protein helps stabilize your blood sugar, keeps you full longer, and fuels your muscles. Veggies bring volume, fiber, important nutrients, antioxidants, and hydration. When you start with these, a few beautiful things happen:

✅ You feel more satisfied sooner
✅ You naturally eat less of the heavy stuff
✅ You enjoy your indulgences without the crash later

This isn’t about saying “no” to the things you love. It’s about saying “yes” to what your body needs first—so when you do have that ice cream or cocktail, it’s not out of blood sugar desperation or emotional hunger.

It’s a small shift that adds up in a big way.

I like the to say "crowding out"—filling your plate (and life) with so many nourishing habits that there’s simply less room for the ones that drain you.

Try this:

  • At your next BBQ or summer dinner, build your plate starting with protein and veggies
  • Pause halfway through—ask if you’re still hungry before reaching for chips or dessert
  • Enjoy the extras guilt-free, knowing you supported your body first
