I’ll let you in on a little secret: I don’t always love exercise.

Sound surprising coming from a personal trainer? Here’s the thing—I used to push myself through workouts I dreaded, convinced that was the only way to get results. But after 40, forcing myself through routines I hated just wasn’t sustainable anymore, and convincing myself that I had to adhere to my complicated routine meant I wasn't working out anymore.

That’s when I discovered a simple truth that I half believed prior: you’re allowed to enjoy your workouts.

When I started choosing exercises that felt good, that I looked forward to, something amazing happened—I got better results, more consistently, without burnout. It turns out, enjoyment is the key to consistency.

Ok my answer to my sister was pretty simple, and yes surprising. No I don't like working out, but I always love how I feel afterwards, and I'm ALWAYS glad I did it.

Unless there is a really good reason for it, I don't do the exercises I hate, I switch them for exercises I prefer. It may take some time for you to learn which exercises you love, but once you have a few go to exercises you love I promise you it makes the really tough days so much easier.
