Hey Reader! When I look back at my fitness journey, there’s one thing I see often in women over 40 that I’m grateful I figured out early. The belief that we have to constantly push harder, diet stricter, or “go extreme” to get results. In my 20s and early 30s, I loved training hard—classic strength training, heavy lifts, pushups, squats, deadlifts—you name it. I never went down the path of trendy extremes like CrossFit (though no shade to those who love it!), but I trained consistently and smart. What I did get caught up in was extreme dieting. That was my trap. Someone told me once, there was no way I would ever build the muscle I wanted eating as little as I was eating. Of course Nicole in her 20s was like, "What do you know, I'll just eat more once I get my weight down to nothing."🤯😬 I even invented what I called my bubble gum diet. Long before I becam a nutritionist. I was a chef at the time running my own wedding catering business, so yes surrounded by food, I decided if I chew gum every time I am hungry or near food I won't eat. Not smart for a breastfeeding mom or ANYONE for that matter! And can you believe there was a time I didn't eat carbs—I mean, no pasta? Who was I? lol I learned—thankfully in my late 20s—that restrictive eating wasn’t just unsustainable, it was working against me. What I really needed was fuel, not fewer calories. Over time, I let go of extremes and embraced balance: strength training I enjoy, and a way of eating that nourishes my body and fits my real life. That’s what I help women do now through the Goddess Jump Start program. It’s not about going hard or cutting more—it’s about building a plan that works with your body, your lifestyle, and your goals. Hey Reader! Sometimes we think change has to be big to be effective. But over and over again, I’ve seen one small shift create a ripple effect that transforms everything. For one of my clients, it was committing to 10-minute workouts 3x a week. Another started with protein at breakfast instead of just coffee. And another wanted to focus on consistently completing one of her three scheduled strength workouts every week until she was ready to add more. Whatever it is that leads to consistency...
Hey Reader! Ever feel like staying healthy is a full-time job?
